Symptoms

After resetting the iDRAC, ESXi sensord does not start.
After resetting the iDRAC, check the sensord status on the ESXi nodes. It shows as "not running". 
[root@vxrail-esxi01:~] /etc/init.d/sensord status sensord is not running.
In the ESXi host /var/run/log/syslog.log file, you can see messages similar to below:

Cause

ESXi sensord stops because it cannot get data using IPMI during iDRAC resetting.
In addition, sensord keeps stopping without restarting because it reaches a maximum retry count of watchdog before finishing the iDRAC reset.

Resolution

Restart the sensord daemon after the iDRAC reset using the following command on the ESXi host: 
[root@vxrail-esxi01:~] /etc/init.d/sensord start sensord started
[root@vxrail-esxi01:~]
Check the status of sensord after running the start command. 
[root@vxrail-esxi01:~] /etc/init.d/sensord status
sensord is running
[root@vxrail-esxi01:~]
