NetWorker: How to install NVE in AWS from AWS Marketplace?

Instructions

  • NVE 18.1 is available for installation from AWS Marketplace.

  • There is no need to manually transfer the image to your region.

  • Installation involves launching an AMI and selecting the image from the Marketplace.

  • You have the ability to configure your instance as per your requirements before an AMI is started.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Amazon Web Services console.

  2. Click EC2.

  3. Under create instance, perform the following steps:    

    1. Click on Launch instance.

    2. Step 1: Launch an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) - Click AWS Marketplace from the options on the left side.

    3. Inside the search window type Dell EMC NetWorker and hit enter.

    4. Click on Select beside the Dell EMC NetWorker Virtual Edition (Latest version: 18.1).

    5. Click continue on the next window 

  4. For Step 2: Choose an Instance Type, select the correct instance type.

  5. Click Next: Configure Instance Details.

  6. For Step 3: Configure Instance Details: Configure number of instances, network options, IAM role, shutdown behavior, etc. as needed.

  7. Click Next: Add storage.

  8. For Step 4: Add Storage: click Add New Volume.

For Size, type the size as per your requirement. System requirements on page 16 provides information about the required disk size.

Repeat this step for all required volumes.

  1. Click Next: Add Tags.

  2. For Step 5: Add Tags: click on Add tags and add enter Key and Value for each tag.

  3. Click Next: Configure Security Group.

  4. For Step 6: Configure Security Group: create a new or select an existing security group.

Note: Port requirements on page 17 contains information about the required settings for security groups that are used with NVE on AWS.

  1. Click Review and Launch.

  2. Review the configuration and click Launch.

  3. Before you can connect to the NetWorker Virtual Edition appliance, you must download the private key.

Note: Save the private key in a secure and accessible location. After the private key is created, you will be unable to download the private key again.
