ADMe Unable to delete staged data from a Windows staging server

Summary: ADMe staged data being left behind on teh staging server after a successful Tapeout operation

Article Content

Symptoms

The Windows delete command is unreliable for removing all staged files and folders from a staging server drive letter resulting in invalid and incomplete staged data being left behind and potentially taped out.

Cause

Windows enhanced security prevents its delete command from functioning without the need for additional steps such as taking ownership of the files prior to them being able to rely on the delete command.

Resolution

ADMe provides an option on the Migration Flags line in a job policy to call a quick format against the staging drive letter involved.

Preferred Method:
In your Job Policy definition on the Migration Flags line, include the following syntax -upst FORMAT-? where the "?" represents the intended drive letter to be quick formatted after an export backup completes successfully.

Note: If drive C or D are specified they will be ignored

Ensure the correct drive letter is specified matching the client groups defined staging path, if they do not match the quick format will not be called.

-upst FORMAT-?
