VPLEX: GeoSynchrony 6.1, License installing process fails with the error : "Feature not supported for the platform" on GUI/CLI

Symptoms

When attempting to install the license on a VPLEX setup, it fails.

Example:

VPlexcli:/> license install -l /home/service/CKM00xxxxxxxxx_VPLEX_xxxxx_dd-Mon-YYYY.lic
license install:  Evaluation of <<license install ********>> failed.
cause:            Command execution failed.
cause:            Unable to install license.
cause:            Failed to install license. Feature not supported for the platform.

Cause

The outdated license format looks like this: 
INCREMENT VPLEX_MIGRATION EMCLM 1.0 permanent uncounted \
    VENDOR_STRING="VPLEXID=CKM00xxxx;LICENSETYPE=180 DAY \
    EXPIRATION;PRODUCT_LINE=VPLEX;FEATURE_NAME=VPLEX VS6 180 Day \

Resolution

The licensing feature for VPLEX is not supported in the GeoSynchrony 6.1.x. The feature is available in GeoSynchrony 6.2.

Resolution:
Get a license for a VPLEX upgrade to GeoSynchrony 6.2.x.
